Ain't We Got Fun?

Reasons why pregnancy is SOOO awesome...
1. Those stories about cravings?
So totally misleading!
So far, it's nothing like that. It's more, a thought of a food item flits across my mind and I think
"huh, ya, that doesn't make me want to vomit. Maybe I should try it?"
Supposedly there's still time for the cravings to really kick in full force, but so far...it's pretty much two categories:
things that the very thought of make me believe I might be violently ill, and things that I can stand to at least think about.
AND they're never the same one day to the next.

2. There is a treasure trove of things that you should and should not
do/breath/eat/take/drink/look at sideways.
Those of you who have ever ridden the "Winnie the Pooh" ride at Disneyland know that there are rides you can go on while you're pregnant. Surprisingly there is actually a large population which believes you can't go near ANY rides at Disneyland when you're expecting!
I installed The Bump app on my phone and there's a whole section titled "is it safe" and there are categories such as
"Are Deodorant and Antiperspirant safe to Use During Pregnancy?",
"Is Botox safe during pregnancy?" (a personal favorite),
"Is it safe to go to the eye doctor during pregnancy?",
"Is peanut butter safe during pregnancy?", is perfume safe, is stretch mark cream safe, is sunscreen safe... the list goes on and on.
I mean, of course, there's the legitimate questions like about different medications and sushi and carrying toddlers.
But, I'm sorry, some of that is a little ridiculous!
I feel like, if you go by all the advice and dos and don'ts, basically the second you discover you're pregnant, you should go live in the woods without human contact and eat berries (the "right" berries of course) sitting, naked, under a tree till you have your baby.

3. Emotions: EVERYWHERE.
You know those funny movies where the wife is pregnant and she's crying one second and laughing the next and then two minutes later she's picking a ridiculous and (after the fact) funny fight with her husband?
IT'S ALL TRUE!!
About a week ago Larry asked me why I was doing something.
When I responded with:
"I'm pregnant!"
he shot back:
"So what?"
Emotions said "Take off your ring and hand it back to him!"
Reason said "Don't be an idiot, I'm sure he didn't mean that the way I took it."
Thankfully, reason won out. But it doesn't always!

4. Ever heard of the term, "round ligament pain"?
Ya...ouch

5. Birth documentaries.
Just don't and say you did.
Trust me, you do NOT want to see that.
Turned that off REAL quick!
I'll put the emotional scarring off till the Lamaze class...

6. Cribs are ridiculously expensive.
I was just looking around one day online and I came across (I kid you not) a $4,000 crib. It was metal and shaped to look like Cinderella's pumpkin coach (picture above).
People actually buy that??
I held a brief fantasy of getting a cute metal crib with bunnies on it (kinda going for a Peter Rabbit/Beatrix Potter nursery idea) but that didn't last long!
A regular wood crib would be cute!
Hand-me-down might be even better!

I know there's more, but I can't think of it at the moment. (I guess that's another one, you thought wedding brain was bad when you were engaged and wedding planning?? Try pregnant brain!)
Anyway, there are some perks:
if I "crave" it Larry gets it for me (I'm getting spoiled!)
and people are really nice to you when they find out you're expecting.
And I guess there's the whole baby thing too.
That's kind of a big perk.

Less Than Three,
Sarah

P.S. Moral of the story, my husband is a saint and I do not deserve him!
He's getting spoiled for Father's Day!

The BIG Announcement!

We have an announcement!

Yup, that's right!

WE'RE PREGNANT!!!

We found out the day before Mother's Day
which was also the weekend before my birthday!
Kinda cool because my mom found out she was pregnant with me on HER birthday way back when!
So we had an excellent Grandma's Day surprise for our moms!
Surprisingly, I'm already three months along!
And I'm doing pretty well.
Morning sickness hit really hard the day we found out!
(Which is why I've been kinda AWOL the last little while)
But its finally getting better!
Thank Heavens!

In case you need any further proof,
a picture of both tests we took:

I'm really excited that we're expecting our addition to be making its way into the world in December!
Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year and
I can think of no better Christmas present!

Anyway, that's our news!
I hope you are all having a great day and have a fabulous weekend!

Less Than Three,
Sarah
&
Larry
&
BABY!

P.S. If you care to mock me about something:
Apparently now I'm a "happy crier"
I've always been one to only cry if I was sad or mad.
Not anymore!
I watched Thumbelina the other day and I was sitting there like
"It's so beautiful! They're so happy!"
bawling my eyes out.
I've been seeing The Fox and The Hound on Netflix and I've been wanting to watch it, but I don't dare!
I'd be an absolute PUDDLE!

The Big 2-5

So I realized something the other day.
I'm turning 25 on Friday!
It was only about a year and a half ago that someone mistook me for honestly being a Sophomore
...in high school...
I'll take that to mean that so far, I'm aging gracefully.

Anyway, that's not what I realized.
What I realized was:
EVERYTHING is going to happen in the next 25 years of my life.
I'm going to have kids.
Those kids are going to grow up.
Those kids are going to graduate from high school and possibly even college in that time.
They'll go on missions.
My kids could be married in 25 years.
I could be a grandmother in 25 years!

How crazy is that?
I think the shock really sets in at the idea of being a grandmother!
I can't even comprehend having kids right now, let alone seeing them grow up and having children of their own!

Then I think about how nothing ever seems to go the way I think it will in life and I start to wonder what on earth is in store for us.
It's going to be quite a ride that's for sure!
So here's to the next 25 years and all of the ups and downs it will inevitably bring!
I have the love of my eternity by my side and that's all I need to make life an adventure!

Less Than Three,
Sarah

The Sleepiest Puppy There Ever Was

I cannot help myself.
I just love that sleepy face!

Hi friends!
I'm back from Utah and I'm home with that little one!
She certainly keeps me running and she's crazy spunky!
But she's dang cute, even when she's knocked out asleep!

So, my sister in law graduated from BYU last week and we had great adventures driving back to Arizona.

That's not her, in case you were wondering...

That is though!
Hope she doesn't mind that I put that picture up...
Oh well!
Mwahahaha!!

We ran around the campus taking pictures of her in her cap and gown...even though she only wanted maybe two pictures...I kinda forced her into it...
So to retaliate, she took the following of me.

I excel at awkward...
But it was a new shirt and the flowers were pretty! So why not?

In other, relatively boring, news
I finally found an iphone case I actually like!

This is significant because I've been looking for a cover for my phone since I got it in September! I'm a wee bit indecisive, if you couldn't tell...

Also, on the subject of my inability to make a decision, I bought new tennis shoes!
This may also seem mundane, except for the fact that the last time I got new ones was way back in 2005.
So I'm actually rather proud of these beauts!

AND! The Raisinets fairy visited my house!
I don't think I've ever seen so many boxes in one place in all my days!
I'm not complaining!

We have a friend who is an "extreme couponer" and she had these just laying around.
So we figured we could give them a good home.

Now I just have to restrain myself from eating them all...in one sitting...
I figure I'm doing fairly well so far!
Two boxes in three days...
Well, at least I have my fancy new shoes that can take me out for a walk or a jog from time to time to work all that chocolate covered raisin goodness off!

That's all for the moment!
I hope you are having a lovely week!
Till next time,

Less Than Three,
Sarah

P.S. If we're friends on Facebook, you may have gotten an invitation to "like" the page I set up for the blog (if you didn't it's probably because I have no idea you read this and didn't think you'd want me bugging you to like the page! I'm nice like that) Anyway if you haven't already, you should head on over and give it a "like"!

What Not to Wear to Your Prom

The dress that looks like your entire bottom half exploded...

Anything with rosettes, animal print, or a tear-away skirt...especially not together

The one that advertises the direction of your "lady bits"

Nothing that looks like you're open for business

The ice skating costume

The frosted cupcake

Anything that suggests your escort should be large, hairy, and in ownership of an impressive library

Your curtains

The dress that is eating you

The bedazled baby doll

Anything that advertises your underwear or lack thereof

A wedding dress

The exposed corset

A rainbow

Contrary to popular belief, no one is after your lucky charms...

Less Than Three,
Sarah

What I Think

Hi friends.
Sorry its been so long!

I wish I could say I haven't written because life has been so busy,
but it really hasn't.

The real reason I guess, would be I haven't really known what to say.
So many of us were shocked by what happened in Boston and my heart goes out to all of the people hurt by the attack.
It just seemed so wrong to start talking about fashion, interior decorating, crocheting, etc. in the wake of such a tragedy.

But, to be honest, that isn't so much what has been on my mind.
I'm a little worried people will be offended by what I have to say.
But I feel the need to say it.

What happened in Boston was horrible.
But how many of us really stopped to think that this happens on a daily basis in so many countries around the world?
And I mean REALLY THINK about it.
There are so many mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, sons, daughters, who never get to see justice carried out against their loved one's attacker.

I think we are so shocked by what happened because we live in a country where this is not common place.
But we forget just how often this goes on in our world.
Why aren't we doing something about it?
It seems as if, because the people these things happen to aren't our family or friends, we don't need to care.
These are still human beings whose basic, natural rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are being taken from them.

Before we start feeling sorry for ourselves or becoming really angry at the people who did this, lets think about the people who live in fear every day.
Who will never see their attacker face justice.
Lets stop thinking of only ourselves, and think of others in this world.
I know that I don't personally think about it every day, and perhaps others share my same problem:
I have no idea where to start, or even HOW, to help.
I think the first step is beginning to think outside ourselves and our own country by being informed about world events and actually caring about them.

Ok, I've said what I had to say and I'll leave it at that.
I try not to get terribly political on here mostly because, while that is a passion of mine, it just isn't really the direction I've taken this blog in. But there are times when I feel the need to voice my opinion. However mild it may seem.

Anyway, that is all I have for the moment.
I may not be writing again this week because I'm leaving my husband home with the dog to help my lovely sister in law drive home from school!
Hopefully we have some epic adventures!
(Psh! Hopefully? No. We DEFINITELY will!)
Till next time...

Less Than Three,
Sarah
