Sonograms, Names, and Registries! OH MY!

Since I know most of you probably clicked on the link to see the sonogram pictures, we'll do those first!

These are from the ultrasound we had over a month ago, so he has probably grown quite a bit!

This one may be one of my favorites. Such little toes!

And this one is just dang cute!

Now, for those of you who don't know already, we have decided to name him James Alan Dewey!
James is Larry's and my father's middle name and Alan is Larry's father's name. We both really prefer family names and names that mean something, so it works well!

They have "officially" changed my due date from December 12th to January 2nd because he's measuring a few weeks smaller than they expected. However, Larry and I were both small babies and we were both born early, so...I have a feeling that we might just have a small baby and he could still be born in December. We were also kinda surprised that they measured him very conservatively, they drew the lines to measure very tightly. When they didn't draw them so tight, the due date was pretty much spot on.
We'll see what happens! He'll come out when he's good and ready!

Also, I finally got around to putting together a baby registry! We are registered at diapers.com and Babies R Us! For diapers.com, you just need to search for my first and last name and it should pull it up! For Babies R Us, you can search by my first and last name (married or maiden), by my husband's name, or by the grandparent's names (Terry and Cindy Hess, or Nancy Dewey)! I must say, I kinda like that the registry is searchable that way! I have to admit, it was SO MUCH nicer to register for baby things than it was to register for our wedding! I can't even begin to tell you how many hours upon hours we spent on Bed Bath and Beyond's website trying to register when we got married!
Creating a baby registry however, was fun! There are so many cute things and it was a blast to go through them all.

It's starting to sink in more and more that this is actually happening! Its taken a little while! I'd ask Larry why I was so tired or why my pants weren't fitting any more and he'd say, "You're pregnant!" or just point to my stomach to which I would respond "Noooo that's false. Lies and slander." But I'm actually feeling the baby move now (which, by the way, if seeing a little person in my stomach on a computer screen wasn't weird enough, feeling something moving around in there is down right freaky! Cool, but freaky!) and I think that helps make it feel all the more real.

Ok, so in non-baby related news! We should be hearing about the Air Force any day now...really...any day...(Waiting is such fun)
We are about 95% sure that Larry will be put in a job this month which means we will finally find out when he will go into basic training. With all of the Air Force drama last month, we ended up needing to talk to the recruiter's superior and when Larry discussed the situation and that one of the issues we had was that he would go into basic training pretty much two days before the baby was due, the officer told him that when one of his jobs does drop down, if it interferes with Larry being there for our baby's birth, to let them know and they would work around it so that he can definitely be here for the baby being born.

We also have my parents coming down to live with us for a little while as they search for jobs etc. It will be very nice to have them around and I'm looking forward to it!

I started to write a post about our California adventures, but there is just so much to say and tell that I think I can just sum it up by stating that we had a good time, Jen was a gorgeous bride, I'm very grateful for my husband and how willing he is to help anyone and everyone in any way he can, and Disneyland was excellent! We probably won't go back to Disneyland when I'm pregnant ever again, but it wasn't all that bad! Our anniversary was wonderful! In some ways this has been the slowest and the fastest year ever, all at the same time! We are looking forward to celebrating our anniversary next year!

Anyway, that's about all I have for now! I hope you are all doing well, and are looking forward to fall and the holidays as much as we are!!

Less Than Three,
Sarah

Our BIG decision

Welcome back!

Well, you've heard me talk about a big change that might be coming up this year for us. We have been talking and praying and researching for weeks now and we've finally made a decision.

Some of you might already know because we've been making phone calls for advice and references. So, it's probably time to let everyone in on what's going on.
Larry has decided to join the Air Force.
We have had the decision made for a little while now, but I guess I just wasn't ready to come to terms with it before. I NEVER thought I'd be ok with him going into the military. But, as we've prayed and considered the decision, I've been blessed with so much peace and I know this is the right choice and the best thing for us to do right now.

So, we are still in California and working with a recruiter here to get Larry into the Air Force. I know that Larry is passionate about this and he is excited about the possible career options that this will open up for him. We are anxious to have the process done so that we can have some time together before he leaves for basic training, so we are struggling to be patient, but we know all of the frustrations we have had the last few weeks will be worth it. I am so proud of Larry, he did very well on his ASVAB (the test to determine what careers he'd potentially qualify for), well enough that he could honestly do whatever he chose to do in the Air Force. I married a pretty dang smart guy!

I'm not looking forward to having him be gone. We've been together every single day since the day we met and I had hoped to have that continue, but my plans are never quite the Lord's plans! But we have been blessed in this process and I have no doubt that, as we continue on this road we will continue to be greatly blessed.

Anyway, that's really just about it for what I have for you this week. We're still kinda under the weather so we haven't had any exciting adventures this week, but hopefully next week!!
Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated, or if you have any questions or comments they would also be welcomed! We love you all and I hope you are doing very well!

Less Than Three,
Sarah

The Story Behind The Title

Hi everyone! So, I usually try to have pictures to share with you from my week, but this week I was pretty darn sick!

Which helped me remember: there is not much that I hate, and I do mean HATE, more than being sick!

So, I am lacking pictures. I have a few from an excursion to IKEA which was a ton of fun, I ended up making a kind of picture wish list of things that I would furnish a home with...you know...if we had a home...
Oh ya, by the way, we're still in California! Yay!!...While we are immensely grateful for the wonderful hospitality of our fabulous friends, we are quite anxious to be getting back to being fully functional adults.

Strange

I know
Anyway! It's story time! It's ok to be excited. I know you are. Don't deny it!

I figured I'd tell you where the whole "Hessy" thing came from. It hails from my mission days. I've never had a nickname so when Jen started calling me Hessy from time to time, as well as a few other members of my district, I was thrilled that I had a nickname for the first time! Let's face it, there's only so much you can do with Sarah...if I had a dime for every time I've heard my name mixed with the oh-so-common "beara"...well, I'd be rich!
Back to my story. So, while I was in Tallahassee, my companions and I were covering three different college campuses. Tallahassee, on a bike, in the summer, three campuses...it doesn't get much better than that! To be honest, my favorite campus was FAMU (Florida A&M University). The campus is gorgeous and the people are so nice!
So, one day Sister Malcom and I were talking to this man who was about forty, and we gave him a pamphlet. Now, if you've ever been a missionary, you know that the chances of someone contacting you again after you've given them a pamphlet are fairly slim. So, when this guy called us a few weeks later, you could say we were quite pleasantly surprised! Now, he had quite a thick accent and so we had a hard time understanding what he was trying to say on the phone, but somehow, my name came up. Someone said "Hess" and he recognized the name (granted, he repeated it as "Hessy")so they handed me the phone. I was able to find out that he was going home to China that day but that he wanted to meet with us before he left. So we hoofed it to FAMU as quickly as we could and were also surprised when he kept the appointment he had made with us. First thing, he wanted to take a picture with us.

Here's where it starts getting a little awkward.

As a missionary, I developed a rather LAAAARGE personal bubble. Which was promptly, and uncomfortably, popped as I ended up standing next to this guy for the picture and he put his had dangerously low on my back. Now, in hindsight, this could have been just the middle of my back and I just over exaggerate the memory because I was so traumatized that I was a missionary and I had some guy's hand on my back...either way, it was VERY awkward!

Not bad right? Just wait. There's more.

So, we head into the Library to find a quiet place where we can teach this guy about what we believe and give him a Book of Mormon before he leaves.

Just a note, before I continue. I'm sure this guy was just trying to start up a conversation, that he wasn't a crazy person, or anything like that.

Ok, now we can move on.
So, as we're walking into the Library, somehow I end up walking behind my companions and with the guy. So I try to start up some small talk, and I think I asked something about China. I wasn't talking loudly, but I wasn't whispering which is why when he suddenly came closer and whispered "You want to go to China?" I felt a little uncomfortable and very very awkward. So I nervously replied "Someday" and sped up a little. Now, at this point I'm dying a little. I was honestly KINDA freaked out! So we all sit down in a study room and we begin to teach the first lesson. God is our loving Heavenly Father, He sends us prophets to teach us how to return to Him, Christ came to earth and after he died an apostasy occurred and the truth and authority of the priesthood was lost, Joseph Smith was called as a prophet to restore Christ's church as it was when he was on the earth, and he was given The Book of Mormon as a second witness of the divinity and mission of Jesus Christ (its been a few years so I hope I didn't leave anything out, but that's basically it in a nutshell). Now, during the lesson, Sister Goodsell offered to let him use her scriptures to read as we referenced several verses in our lesson. To which he refused saying that he could just share mine and proceeded to pull his chair ALL THE WAY around to the other side of the table to sit next to me and read from my set with me. I was freaking out on the inside! He's already gotten farrr too close to me, asked if I wanted to go to China which had sounded a little more like he meant WITH him, and now he's looking for any excuse to be close to me...I'M A SISTER MISSIONARY! This should just NOT be happening!

We ended the lesson and went our separate ways and never heard from him again, but I got plenty of teasing from my companions. We came to the conclusion that he must have thought my name was Hessy...or a close second...hussy...And thus, Hessy was born.

I didn't hear too much of it till I told Jen and my district leader the story and then it just kinda caught on. So when I was looking for a title to this blog, Hessy just sounded rather appropriate somehow.
Aren't you glad you know?! The less than three bit is actually a version of how I sign my entries in my personal journal. I always feel so silly when I'm taking notes in my journal next to someone who I can tell is glancing at it and I'm always fairly certain, seeing that I sign my entries "Love, Sarah". Maybe it's weird, but I feel like I'm writing this long extended letter to someone (probably my future kid) who is going to read it. I don't like the whole "Dear Diary" thing, but I sign it like I would a letter. So Less Than Three, Hessy it is! This is also why I haven't changed Hessy for my new last name, though I've considered it!

Well, there you go! More than you ever wanted to know! But I hope you enjoyed my embarrassment and awkwardness! Anyway, that's all I have for now, hope you have a great weekend and I'll see you next week! Oh! And enjoy the pictures!

Less Than Three,
Sarah

I love the idea of an oval coffee table. So I think this is beautiful and unique.

You'll notice, a lot of the things I love are white. I'm apparently going to have to have the cleanest kids in history...we'll see how that goes...

Kitchen cabinets! I love glass cabinets!

Closet doors!!

Cute little desk!

So, I usually am drawn to white when it comes to couches, however, I feel like it's a little unrealistic. So I figure grey is maybe a more kid-friendly choice. Except with different throw pillows...because those are heinous...

SUCH a pretty entertainment center! I love it!

Caitlyn took a cat nap because that chaise was COMFY!!

The office of Larry's dreams.

The office CHAIR of mine.

I love upholstered headboards! They are beautiful, classic but just a little modern all at the same time!

Why hello there beautiful kitchen!

They bought a couch and Larry and Brian put it together. It was good fun watching them try to figure it out. Not gonna lie!

So we played RISK yesterday. Caitlyn was the red, Brian was the black, Larry was the blue/grey, and I was the green. We got bored at this point and decided we were not so power hungry but mostly just hungry and abandoned the game to get food. We declared Caitlyn the winner!

Have a beautiful rest of your week!

Happy New Year!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! I can't believe a year has flown by!
NOTHING has gone as planned, but that's pretty normal. This time last year I was in Seattle, wondering what the next year would bring me, working at Deseret Book, and not entirely ready to leave for school! Then I had one of the hardest semesters of my life, seriously it was one thing after another! But we won't go into that at the moment! Then I met the love of my life. See, my personal plan had always been that I'd meet the guy I was going to marry in January, we'd date for about three months before he would ask me to marry him and then we'd get married in June. So every year when I wouldn't meet someone in January, I'd always figure, hey, maybe next year! So when I met Larry in April and ended up married in August, it would be an understatement to say I didn't see that one coming! But the Lord always has a better plan for us than we have for ourselves and Larry is better than anything I had EVER imagined or hoped for!
Then we figured we'd be living in Washington, I'd start work again at Deseret Book and Larry would find a job there. But, after we got married and went down to Arizona for the reception there, we realized that the Lord wanted us in Arizona. So we stayed down there. Now, not only was I sad that I couldn't work at Deseret Book (probably one of my favorite places, not gonna lie) but we also felt like I needed to stay home. Which, I wasn't very happy about. I wanted to work! Larry was gone all day and I needed something to do! But, it ended up being a great blessing. I figured out I actually kinda like to cook, I haven't had to worry about maintaining a job while I've been dealing with this stomach thing, I've rediscovered interests, and I've grown in so many ways I didn't know were possible! We have been so greatly blessed, even if I was just a little stubborn along the way...

So what's on the horizon for us next year?

I honestly have NO idea.
We weren't able to find a place to live in Rexburg before we left Arizona. But we packed up our belongings in good faith that the Lord would guide us the way we are supposed to go! We had a wonderful time on our mini honey moon in Disneyland! (Pictures at the end!) And we had a wonderful time visiting my oldest friend Caitlyn and her husband Brian. It's actually almost scary how well Brian and Larry get along! That certainly works out well!! Then we spent a few days with my parents for Christmas and it was wonderful to see them! We had planned on being in Washington for a while and getting to see some friends, but, as goes the story of my life, that wasn't what the Lord had in mind for us. So, we got two days in Washington before we felt strongly that we needed to go back to California. So here we are! We still haven't found a place in Rexburg and we don't know if that will be where we end up at all this semester. We have a few options in the works at the moment and we won't know till this week or maybe even next week what will happen, but the changes could potentially be huge, so stay tuned for those!
But, one of those changes starts here! I couldn't decide if the whole "Love" theme I had going here was cute or just annoying. I think that it might be annoying so I'm going to get rid of the "Loving xyz" blog title thing. Small change, I know, but we'll see how that works. Next, I've been trying to decide if I want to have a specific area that I have my blog focus on. Like a crochet blog, a quilting blog, an all things craft blog, a beauty blog, a blog about dealing with depression, ADD, and Trichotillomania (I may have spelled that wrong...sorry!) ect. I love all those things, they make me who I am, and honestly I'm still searching for a niche. But, hopefully I'll get some feedback from you and you'll let me know what YOU would like to read about. I'll be honest with you, I don't know everything in the world. I'm only starting out with crocheting and I honestly haven't ever even tried to quilt, and I'm still learning what works for me and what doesn't. But, I would love it if you would help me find out! I have a feeling that this year is going to be more difficult, but at the same time even better than the last! And I would love it if you took the ride with me!
SO!
Here's to a brand new year and all of the trials and all of the blessings it will bring! It's going to be great and I can't wait to share it with all of the people I love!
Have a wonderful New Years Eve! I'll see you next year!

Less Than Three,
Sarah

I had to post this because I love grumpy cat and this just made me chuckle.

Ya... he's that awesome.
They've reopened Sleeping Beauty's Castle!! I was sooooo excited!!

That is entirely made of legos! How crazy is that??

You know, it's a little sad when the Beast...is more..."endowed"...than Bell...

So, Caitlyn and I tried to make cookies last night, but my favorite recipe is in Arizona in a box that is waiting for us to have a place that it can be shipped to, so we found a recipe close to it, but something went wrong and they ended up SUPER crumbly and we accidentally dropped one and it exploded on the ground. I'm fairly certain a cookie isn't supposed to do that...
San Francisco!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
